Dear Parents/Guardians and Friends of Thornleigh
You may have noticed that our school garden is full of wonderful colours and vegetables this Autumn. This is a result of, and thanks for, the hard work and commitment of the Thornleigh Community - Parents, HSCL teacher, children and teachers.
The HSCL teacher Eoghan (last term) and Miss Antoinette sat down with a group of parents and drew up a schedule to ensure the garden was planted and maintained to a high standard. The parents, children and staff then planted, watered and tended to the garden throughout the year. During the summer a few parents kindly kept this up and as you can see we have a bountiful harvest this year which includes - potatoes, onions, carrots, green beans, peas and beetroot to name but a few.
The new HSCL teacher David and the parents, staff and children spent a couple of days digging, gathering and harvesting the vegetables. They are now stocked in our staff room ready to be turned into beautiful soup for all the children on Tuesday 23rd September 2014. This is to celebrate the Harvest Festival as part of our Learn Together Programme which encompasses the celebration of Feasts and Festivals.
ALL are welocme to the soup day and if you would like to help or be involved please contact David 086 2282914, who will be in the school on Monday and in the yard before school begins.
Please remember to give your child a soup bowl and spoon on Monday or Tuesday in order that they may have a nourishing bowl of soup.
Looking forward to seeing you in the school on Tuesday.
Ms Paula - Príomhoide and the Thornleigh Team.
