The children worked really hard practicing over the last number of weeks! We each took a different part of the famous poem "Twas The Night Before Christmas". We also sung a famous Christmas song- "We Wish You A Merry Christmas" and one as Gaeilge - "Bualadh Bos!"
The children used such fantastic expression and sung wonderfully! Well done guys! Hope you all enjoy!

November Update
November has been a busy, exciting month! We have continued our Guided Reading every Monday and Wednesday and have enjoyed reading a variety of genres and listening to each other reading. This month, we have focused on narrative writing, have written interesting stories and have given each other extremely positive feedback!
In Maths we have been covering data and money. We have collected lots of data from our class and created pictograms and bar graphs of our very own data. In money we have used coins to see how many ways we can create different amounts.
This month, we have started to make a big effort to use our Irish phrases every day. Each week we will be making an effort to use each Frása na Seachtaine as much as possible!
Mouse, our Nature expert has visited again this month. With Mouse we learned a lot about pond life and were fortunate enough to examine pond creatures in our classroom! We saw pond snails, water beetles and a newt! We have continued working on our ‘Irish Animal’ projects, with guidance from Mouse and are making great progress with them! We will be our class’ expert on our chosen animal and can teach others about this animal!
We all should be very proud of the hard work we have completed this month!
Ms. Katie

October Update
Ms.Siobhán’s/ Ms.Katie’s 2nd Class
October has been a busy month in 2nd Class.
Guided Reading takes place in our pods every Monday and Wednesday with Ms.Katie. As we are already excellent readers we are really focusing on our comprehension skills. We are using strategies such a scanning, skimming, prediction and recall. All of these skills will enable us to become better more confident readers! In Maths we are continuing to revise number and our hundred square. It is so important to have a good foundation in number.
We have been fortunate enough to have our Nature Expert called Mouse come into 2nd Class. With his guidance we have begun work on our projects on an ‘Irish Animal’. We hope to have these projects completed by the end of November. Mouse brought in a live hedgehog for us to look at and we also hid nuts outside which we will look for in spring. For more information please see the website linked here. https://www.owls.ie/school-programme
As always we used our creative talents really well. Everyone performed a fantastic Halloween assembly in 2nd Class. We really spoke clearly and projected our voices when speaking. Katie and I were very proud of the children. We made Bats and Masks for our Halloween art which the children took home.
Overall, the children have completed some fantastic work in October and should be very proud of themselves.
